I find this anti competitive

I submitted a claim on 03/11/2020 and by 11/11/2020 we still have issues, the contents of the claim are as follows;

Samsung Refrigerator Yamaha Amplifier Klipsch Speaker Laptop Alarm System

I have two major issues with how this claim is being handled

1. My Access, I stayed in an area in Centurion that got hit by lightning constantly. This resulted in multiple lightning damage claims. Nothing strange for the area and all claims where approved by assessors stating that there was definite lightning damage. This resulted in an R5,000 flat access on electronic claims which I accepted.

I however moved to Port Elizabeth and asked for the additional access amount to be waivered as the risk has changed, to which I was told it will be done. Now that I have a claim from what could only be an Eskom spike no fault of my own and unforeseeable, you are unwilling to waiver the additional amount as it NEVER gets removed. This is ridiculous and totally unfair treatment especially if you have a look at the last time I even had a claim on content.

2. I asked for the claim to be handled efficiently as I am stuck without a refrigerator at the moment and a week later we still have a problem and guess what it is. Outsurance wants to FORCE me to use their service provides to replace my items. I was then offered a 50/50 split on cash and vouchers. Here is my issue, I find this extremely anti-competitive behavior and to manipulate a customer to use suppliers of your choosing is just wrong. I have the full right to shop where I want to shop and how I choose to shop. No, I will not go from store to store and then come back and say O’ I found I fridge I need a voucher. If I want to purchase it then and there that’s what I want to do. I then get the explanation that an amount of R 110,000 is exorbitant, well I did not come up with the amount, your suppliers did and what does it matter what the amount is when I pay my premiums that’s the entire point of insurance? At this stage I am completely disgusted at how this has been handled, I have had no mention of whom will repair the alarm, or is this amount included, as I cannot believe the entire alarm needs replacing. This is the 2nd time where you want to force me to use your suppliers and just like the 1st I am completely unwilling. On the alarm, I told the consultant that we were not at the premises when the damage happened as we were away for the weekend, so I am not a 100% sure of ALL the faults, she then told me just to give the assessor any additional items, which I did after he told me he is only allowed to report on what I gave outsurance. My next stop is the ombudsman as I honestly believe this is an unfair practice and shameful at the least. I understand some might find it more convenient, but force is never the way to go.

All sorted thank you, I just wish situations like this can be avoided in the first place; Still no reply on my alarm tough?
