Great Start - Horrible End

I have a complaint against the Outsurance telesales guy who just spoke with me:

I requested a quote from your site, and was called by a friendly seeming gentleman. I gave him all my details and we began working through the quote. Once everything had been explained and prices were discussed he asked me when I would like to start the insurance policy.

I explained to him that I was still shopping around and was not ready to commit to outsurance. I asked him to put everything we discussed into writing with a quote and that's where things fell apart. He asked me why I was still shopping around, and asked if I was looking for a better premium. Having never before has insurance, I told him that I wasn't sure what I was looking for, but that I wouldn't make a decision until I had all the facts from various insurance vendors.

I told him I was waiting to hear back from Dial Direct before I committed to anything. he told me to Google "short term Ombustman reports 2015". He then proceeded to tell me how Dial Direct had more complaints leveled against them than Outsurance does. This got me riled up.

I explained that if he continued to bad mouth you competition that on principle I would not insure with your company. If you cannot sell me on your insurance on your merits alone I want nothing to do with you. He told me since Dial Direct had more complains they would "of course be cheaper". I once again asked that he email me everything so that I could make an informed decision. He justified bad mouthing Dial Direct by saying, "I'm not bad mouthing them, you can just Google the info". He then told me that he can send me the quote, but it would only be prices. That the quote would not stipulate what I am and am not covered for.

he told me "That's why we record these phone calls". When I explained that I has no access to the the recording he once again said that he would send the quote, but it would only include the prices.

He proceeded to tell me that all the information about what I am and am not covered for would be in my policy documents.

So to summarize: Your agent while friendly at first tried to Hard sell me insurance, then proceeded to bad mouth your competition, then tried to hard sell me some more, then refused to send me a document stating what my monthly premium would and would not cover.

Hi warren-beaver-levey,

Thank you for bringing the matter to our attention. Colleen our sales manager contacted you to discuss what had transpired on the call. Product comparisons and giving financial advice is sound insurance practise however being overly assertive/pushy is unacceptable. Sorry about this.

Regards, Kelvin
