Geyser burst claim frustration
Outsurance ***. We pay Outsurance over R100.000 per annum for our various premiums and after years of telling sceptical people how good Outsurance has been for us, we are suddenly faced with this unacceptable situation. We had a geyser burst on 29th November 2020. This caused extensive water damage to ceiling, woodwork, bed, furniture, electrical system and wall paint. Besides the geyser replacement, which we were allowed to organize ourselves, and the replacement of the built-in dressing table, the rest of the repair process has been a comedy of errors. The main bedroom is still unusable. The now mouldy bed is still in the bedroom. The bedroom walls were painted the incorrect color. The new ceiling is sagging. The ceiling repainting in the lounge/kitchen has been done so carelessly that there is paint/rinolite splatter on the wooden blinds and counters and white ceiling paint on the walls. We organised an emergency electrical repair so that the entire DB didn't constantly short out, but the house still has no functioning ceiling lights. We had an accredited house inspector to do a report on the repairs which has been submitted to Outsurance so they are fully aware of the inadequacies. Perhaps this report will get someone with decision making authority in Outsurance to decide on an amount to pay us to settle this claim and we will complete the further necessary repairs/replacements ourselves. Cellphone communication during the day is difficult but an appointment with a claims manager/assessor can be made by email for any time of Outsurance's convenience and we will make ourselves available on site.
What you have experienced is certainly not the level of service we wish for any of our clients to experience. We don't blame you at all for sharing your poor service experience.
We escalated the matter to Lindi our client liaison manager who contacted you to address your concerns and she discussed the recourse with you. Our client liaison team will remain in touch with you up until the matter has been resolved.
We sincerely apologise for the poor service experience.

OUTsurance
