Forced to keep a policy...... what happened to treating customers fairly ???????

I took up a policy with outsurance about a week ago and after going back to my previous insurance company they managed to give me a better offer . I than called outsurance to cancel the policy and spoke to a consultant by the name of Sam who said he would assist me to cancel. In the beginning of the conversation he was polite and I knew that they would try to convince me not to cancel. I explained to Sam that the only reason y I wanted to cancel was that I got a better premium and excess with my insurer and if they could not beat that, I was ok to cancel. He went on to explain how Outsurance was better and kept trying to convince me not to cancel. He kept going around in circles refusing to cancel my policy and he requested that I send him my policy with my insurer. I have no problem with him trying to retain me but I think after I told him more than 5 times during that I WANT TO CANCEL he would eventually get the massage. That conversation lasted for 45 min and I eventually got so fed up I hung up because now I was being forced to keep the policy. Extremely annoyed and I still don’t know if my request was attended too.

Hi Tumi,
Thank you for bringing the matter to our attention. Brian our client care manager contacted you and apologized for the frustration Sam caused. The consultants job is to give correct financial advice to assist client's in making well informed decisions. Part of the retention procedure is to do a product comparison and raise awareness with statistics such as the Ombudsman etc. We do agree that becoming overly assertive is unacceptable. Sorry for the frustration caused.
