Fed up pensioner

I would like to relay my story about Outsurance. After an accident on 14th Jan 2016, my car (a '92 Citi Golf) ended up in the Outsurance assessment yard. I was told that it was uneconomical to fix my car - this after I had always paid my premium and in fact was about 9 months away from my no-claim bonus (due in September). Outsurance still went ahead and took off an excess amount of R1900. For what? They did not fix my car. I had to make plans to have my car fixed at my own expense. So then what purpose does paying a monthly premium to be insured serve? I was paid a meager amount of R1400 to fix my car. It actually cost me R7700 from my own pocket. I'm a 64 year old pensioner. Do they not care about the elderly? From their treatment of my claim it would appear not. I still owe the garage that fixed my car. I cancelled my policy with Outsurance and went elsewhere. I will not rest until I have been fairly compensated.

We are so sorry about the disappointing outcome and thank you for the opportunity to discuss the detail of the settlement with you in more detail.
Our claims manager, Xinilia contacted you after having received your complaint. She discussed the vehicle was insured for market value and explained vehile values versus salvage values as well as reason given for excess charged at the time.
We know this is not changing the outcome of settlement, but thank you for your understanding.

Dinky
