False Marketing about the Outsurance Promotion

Good Day,

Outsurance called me on Monday 17 April 2023 to offer me a quote for my 2 cars and building insurance.

I advised them that I would consider them if they could match or better the monthly payment I currently pay, also maintaining what I am currently covered for.

I am currently covered on comprehensive cover for the 2 cars and I explained it on the call. I advised them of the amount I currently pay and on the call they advised that there had prepared a quote that would beat what I currently pay. Outsurance created a policy document with the amount, but after receiving the policy document I discovered that the cars were covered under essential cover with no benefits like roadside assistance, towing and storage, glass and windscreen cover as well as car hire which I currently get.

I then called Outsurance on Tuesday 18 April and the lady I spoke to promised to review the cover to comprehensive cover and that she would call me on Wednesday 19 April 2023 around 10 am with feedback - she never called back.

On Thursday 20 April I then called Outsurance again and the agent who assisted me advised that the revised cover amount which included comprehensive insurance for the cars was still higher than what I currently pay. At this stage I then asked the agent to cancel the policy to which he advised it will be done. I received an email confirmation that the policy had been cancelled. I then queried about the R500 promotion since Outsurance couldn't beat my current insurance. The agent then advised that he would log the request with the Promotions team. I received an email with the link for the Promotion as well as an OTP on my cellphone. When trying to enter the OTP on the link, the OTP was rejected , I then sent an email to seek assistance from Outsurance to which I then received a call from Outsurance on Friday 21 April just after 09:00. The gentleman from the Promotions team who called me then advised that the OTP that I received will not be usable and I will have to wait for 4 months to benefit from the promotion.

To me this is false advertising, Outsurance clearly couldn't beat my current quote after giving them a chance multiple times. Now a link which doesn't work is sent to prospective clients and after querying it you are told that you have to wait for another 4 months for another quote to be done. This is very misleading and not a true picture of what is advertised.

Regards,

James

Hello James

We appreciate your feedback.

Your response to the incorrect cover sold at the time, was concerning. Our advisors need to ensure proper advice and information are provided, to enable clients to make informed decisions about the cover they require and accept.

The particular sales call was audited and we fully agree, the details of the cover were not discussed at all. This is a serious service transgression and is being dealt with accordingly.

Further to this, our promotion manager contacted you and confirmed the Ts % Cs, but given what had transpired, we will proceed with payment.

As soon as we have received the required documents, we will make payment to your account.

We wish to apologise for the service experience and again thank you for reaching out to us.

Regards
The OUTsurance Team
