Excess to be recouped from guilty third party
I have once again been informed by Outsurance today that "Outsurance will try very hard to recoup my excess from the guilty party" but that there "no guarantee that my excess will be reimbursed to me" and that "it might take a very long time to finalise the matter".
If the guilty party is an Outsurance customer and the other party is also with Outsurance then there is no discussion concerning the excess i.e. the guilty party will pay the excess.
However, it appears that when the guilty party is not with Outsurance, then Outsurance does not have much confidence in recouping the excess for its Client.
I find this very disconcerting. The message I am currently getting from Outsurance is that I will be paying R5,000 for the privilege of the guilty party having damaged the door of my vehicle.
I have been a customer with Outsurance for many years and have been very satisfied with the service I have enjoyed.
However, if Outsurance does not recoup the full excess from the guilty party I will obtain quotes from other insurance companies to move my insurance portfolio
