Excess money recovery from a third party

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the handling of my recent claim following an accident in which another driver collided with my vehicle. Upon contacting OUTSURANCE , I was informed that they do not pursue claims with third-party insurers if the damages to my vehicle amount to less than R70,000.

As I understand it, in cases where I am not at fault, the insurance provider would typically recover my excess payment by claiming from the at-fault party’s insurer. However, I have been advised that my excess will not be recovered in this instance, solely due to the estimated repair cost falling below the R70,000 threshold.

This policy has left me feeling unsupported, as I expected my insurance company to advocate on my behalf, particularly when I am not responsible for the incident. I believe it is reasonable to expect assistance with recovering my excess, regardless of the repair costs, as part of the service I pay for.

I am very disappointed with the answers I have been receiving
