Do not fall for outsurance cash back offer
Outsurance is currently offering a cashback promotion, stating they will pay R500 if they cannot beat a quote on a like-for-like basis. However, when I presented my quote to them, I was informed that excess does not affect the quote, as their excess remains unchanged. Despite my current insurance policy clearly stating no additional excess, Outsurance claimed that my insurance provider would impose an arbitrary excess not specified in my policy upon a claim. They argued that this has no impact on the quote they provided.
Outsurance then presented a quote that was R100 cheaper than my current premium, but with an excess of R5000 higher than mine, and they still deemed it a like for like comparison.
I would strongly advise against engaging with Outsurance. They previously refused to pay for damages caused to my car by one of their clients who drove into me. Now, they are attempting to avoid honoring a cashback offer on a "like for like" basis based on an illogical interpretation of the terms.
It's a pity to see we were unable to offer you a saving at this stage. It is also understandable that your 3rd party claim's outcome caused you distress. Since we don't have any information about this claim, we can merely confirm you would have had a successful 3rd party claim should our client have been proven negligent. We will always settle valid claims.
Please expect a call from our quote promotion team who will assist you further.
