DISGUSTING PET INSURANCE

I took out a medical policy for my dog in January 2024. When I submitted my second claim recently, I was surprisingly told my policy had been cancelled in October 2024. The reason being that when I joined I did not tell them all the conditions my dog had had in the previous 2 years. They discovered this only in October, 10 months later, when they requested medical history from my vet. They said they only request medical history when the first claim is submitted. This makes no sense and is the stupidest thing I have heard. Why was this not checked in January! What if I only put in my first claim after 2 years of paying premiums??? They said they would not have given me the cover they did if they knew about these previous conditions. It is THEIR responsibility to verify information BEFORE granting cover. I could not recall all my dog's previous conditions at the time I signed up. And I was made aware that they would contact my vet, so why leave it for 10 months????? And they actually paid me one claim last year and one claim this year when my policy was already cancelled, which shows what a mess their admin is in. I was never even informed in writing with 30 days notice that my policy was going to be cancelled and the reason thereof. So now I am unable to get cover with other pet insurance companies as my dog is now over 9 years old, and all I qualify for is accidental cover. Essentially Outsurance has insinuated that I deliberately withheld information which I find offensive, made worse by the fact that they could access my dog's medical history timeously but did not. Who would withhold information knowing that it could be checked?? I have now been prejudiced and cannot obtain the required cover through their own fault. Had they not accepted my application in January (with due explanation), I still would have had time to get full cover from another company. I did complain about this and was told that after consulting with their actuaries they could only offer me accidental cover. What alot of *******. I wasn't even offered a refund for my premiums! The company I work for has a number of vehicles insured with Outsurance. After telling my employers the story and the other complaints we have heard about vehicle cover with them, they have decided to cancel their cover with Outsurance, as much of a mission as it will be to join another company. I am gobsmacked by how this whole thing was handled! It seems clients of Outsurance are the ones covering the risk rather than vice versa.

I received your call. Nothing has changed. Fact is that's how you operate your policies, so I would warn people to not be intentionally trapped by Outsurance by not joining in the first place. Lack of transparency and integrity from your side. Not even willing to reinstate the policy (with exclusions) and have me backpay the premiums.

Good day Sandra, Thank you for giving us the opportunity to look into the matter and provide you with feedback. Our client services management team, provided you with detailed feedback. Unfortunately, at sales stage you never provided all the medical conditions which were only identified in the latest claim in January from your Vet. If we had known about all conditions prior to the acceptance of cover, we would not have provided full coverage and would have only offered accidental cover. We erred by not advising you of the cancellation. We have addressed the service transgression accordingly.  We have advised you that going forward we can only provide you with accidental cover which you declined.
Please note, there is no refund due as you enjoyed full cover, and we settled 3 claims.  We do apologise for the inconvenience caused. Regards,The OUTsurance Team
