Customer care????

OUTSURANCE Policy Schedule - OT***3

On the 18th of November 2015 I was involved in an accident. My ‘brand-new’ demo Honda Brio, which I had for less than a month, was written off by a gentleman who skipped a stop sign. The speed at which he was driving, judging by the impact it had on the car, makes me think he didn’t have the foggiest clue at what speed he was driving at. This happened in a residential area.

I submitted all the facts, which you will investigate.

I was informed that I must pay in the excess of R 3850.00, which I did on the 15.12.2015, confident in the knowledge that I was not at fault and you have my best interests at heart.

Earlier this year received a phone call from one of your staff, and I expect you to trace the call and listen to it carefully, letting me know that your attempts at getting my excess back were unsuccessful. Apparently the gentleman is unemployed, on a disability pension, etc, etc. The cherry on the cake for me was when your staff member told me, in a very condescending manner ‘Did you know that he is disabled?’ Excuse me????? The gentleman in question was driving a bakkie. According to eyewitnesses, when he got out of his bakkie and walked around it to assess the damage he looked as if he was under the influence, and I have no idea whether or not he was actually tested because I was waiting for the ambulance to pick me up, put me in traction and take me to the closest ER. Was I expected to react with shock and horror? ‘Oh no, I’m so sorry that I put in a claim for having my car written off by a man who failed to adhere to the traffic laws, landed me up in hospital where I don’t even know how much time and money I spent on blood tests, x-rays, etc, was booked off for two days (Thursday and Friday,) and had to return to work on Monday, still in pain, because I have a management position and felt obligated to ensure that my work did not fall behind. Now that you have informed me that he is disabled, please ignore everything that I have communicated to you’. Aren’t you being discriminatory here? Your excuse for not paying back my excess is based on the fact that the other party is disabled? Disabled people are allowed to cause accidents and suffer no consequences? He was on the road, driving a car!!!! Whose side are you on???????

I have been a loyal client since 21.12.2009. I confirmed this telephonically this morning. Did you know that I was born with a very rare condition for which there is no cure? It’s called Con******* Myasthenia gravis: whoever made the effort to find out that the other party involved in this accident is disabled can surely make the time to investigate this condition and give you feedback on your own client’s health status. It can also be classified as a disability. Not ONCE in my life have I EVER fallen back on this as an excuse for anything that I did wrong. In fact, I have spent every single day of my life fighting this condition, studying hard, working my way up through the different levels available to me in my field of expertise and living as normal a life as possible. If am unfortunate enough to be involved in an accident and I am the responsible party, will you stand by me and use the same line with the person making the claim against me?

Your attitude is insulting, insensitive and condescending. You will shortly be notified of the date on which I will be ending my association with you. A word of advice for the future: make sure you know your clients and try to put them first. The client is the one that spreads the word about good or bad service: no amount of advertising will ever beat client experiences. I will be taking this matter further.
