Car written off
07 July 2015 I hit the passenger side door on my gate, denting it slightly and s****ing the paintwork. I reported it to OUTSURANCE, who referred me to their assessors in North Riding. Took my car there for a report. These assessors obviously know the book values of the cars they see and quote far above the repair value so that the car is written off. Approximately 3 hours after seeing the assessor I received a call from Shahid at OUTSURANCE saying that my car had been written off and when could they come and collect it.
Told Shahid that I was not accepting this and that I would get back to him after I had spoken to my lawyer.
This I did and asked what OUTSURANCE would pay towards the repairs. The amount was R5,223.00 which they paid into my account. Had the car repaired for R4,500.00.
Anyway shortly after receiving the first call that my car had been written off and that I was not accepting it, I received a call from SMD (OUTSURANCE's salvage company) asking when they could collect my car?
Be on the look out, this could happen to you if you don't know your rights. It has happened to quite a few people I have spoken to and a fair amount of them have been with OUTSURANCE.
