Car Insurance Premium rises by 29%!
My car has been insured with Outsurance since Feb2013 & my husband has always been the regular driver on the insurance contract since I got the car.I always update my details whenever there's a change &Outsurance would know this since they claim to record all calls.Yet, when I was involved in an accident in Feb2014, Outsurance said that my daytime parking details were incorrect& raised my premium by R200 because the car is parked in Braamfontein instead of Sandton.Insisting I updated this detail in March2013 got me nowhere,so I let it slide. Now my premium was increased by R400 this month, which is ridiculous! THAT'S A 29% INCREASE IN MY INSURANCE BILL! Without even notifying me! They said that an email was sent to me on 12Dec2014, but I got nothing.I called to query this and got shoddy explanations- 1. Annual increases in line with inflation is standard(but inflation averaged 6.1% last year!) 2. My husband was recently made the regular driver of the car(what bull!),3. Because of the accident in Feb2014, my premium has risen now (really?!). In 1 year,my premium rose by a cumulative 50% when the actual value of the car has fallen,& while other insurance companies quote me much less!!
