Bye bye OUTsurance after nearly 18 years of being your client

I went to Outsurance offices today to adjust my policy as I have recently become unemployed and cannot afford to pay my 2017 premium once off on an annual basis. Guess what ?my premium not only goes up by nearly R2000 because I am now unemployed but they can't change from an annual payment to a monthly payment. Why has my car insurance gone up by 25% when the value of the car decreases? And their advertising line of adjusting their premiums to suit your budget - clearly does not apply when you have been a customer for nearly 18 years. I have no choice but to now look elsewhere for a more suitable and accommodating Insurance policy

Hi Carla,

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention.

You had a meeting with our client care manager Shannon who explained to you that while a policy is in re-rate we can't change frequency thereafter we will be able to change to monthly for you. The general increase is based on inflation. Even though a motor vehicle depreciates yearly the cost of labor and spare parts increase. If there were claims in the re-rate period this will affect the re-rate.

Shannon has placed the re-rate on hold and will follow up with you once you have made a decision. Sorry for the disappointment.

Regards,

Kelvin
