Business Interruption Policy Disappointment
Our company, as many other South African companies, has been severely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and the national lockdown enforced by President Cyril Ramaphosa in March 2020.
Our OUTsurance policy covers business interruption; a policy which we have paid religiously every month. We're all facing the same difficult situation which is out of our control and are thus relying on our insurers, now more than ever before, to support us. We have, however, been informed that according to our policy, we are not covered for the Covid-19 pandemic and its affects on our revenue under business interruption. This is highly disappointing to be left hanging in such desperate times where the world have been struck by a pandemic that no one could have foreseen.
Surely, the affect that the Covid-19 pandemic has on businesses classifies as business interruption?
We have not received the answers we need from OUTsurance, a company claiming that "you always get something OUT". We expect more from you than a simple shoulder shrug.
This is a difficult time for all in SA and the impact of COVID-19 to the economy and citizens is huge.
Tanya our business manager has been in contact with our client and she has provided all the information regarding Business Interruption.
Standard Business Interruption covers you for the financial loss you incur due to the physical damage to your property from incidents such as fire, earthquake, acts of nature etc. Our client only has standard Business Interruption cover which we have discussed in detail with our client.
The Business Interruption claims we have settled have been for clients that have the cover extension on their Business Interruption.
We are certainly not insensitive to the financial loss our client has incurred as a result of the lockdown.
We do apologise for the disappointment.
Regards,
OUTsurance
