Bunch of ****mers

I called to request a quote for contents and out and abouts insurance. After receiving the quote I felt the premium was too high and decided not to take the cover. The sales consultant who assisted me called me the following day and said he had spoken to his team leader who had approved an essential cover for my contents. I asked him to explain the cover in detail and from his explanation it sounded very similar to the comprehensive cover which normally costs over R800 but was offered to me for just over R300. Based on this information I agreed to take the cover. He took my banking details and confirmed that everything was finalized.

A few minutes later I received a call from the team leader who informed me that there is no such cover and that the sales consultant lacked product knowledge. As compensation I was offered R1500 because they could not match the price I was quoted by another insurer. However when I was transferred to claims to receive the compensation I was told that the R1500 only applies to car insurance.

This experience shows a complete lack of honesty and consistency from the sales consultant to management. They appear willing to provide misleading information and even sell cover that does not exist just to secure a sale. The entire situation is extremely concerning.
