Bait and Switch: Premium jump 9 days after confirmation

9 days ago I called Outsurance saying I have a better quote from a different insurer. They managed to shave my monthly premium down to more or less match what the other guy was quoting.

I confirmed that this would be okay and would stay with them. They were obviously happy that they got to keep my business. I got the confirmation email with the new policy schedule and my new contribution.

Today, literally 9 days later, I get an email saying my premium will be raised for 1st Jan 2020. And I get it on 19th December, when I'd be very likely to be away on holiday and not checking my emails.

Unfortunately for Outsurance, this ****my behaviour will not fly. This is precisely why I wanted to leave in the first place, because of ***** practices like this. This is how you lose loyal customers, you money-grubbing lowlifes!

Good day Imran,

Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention.

Khumo our client services manager contacted you to discuss what had transpired. You received a rerate notification which is your annual increase and the review call was prior to the generation of the rerate. Khumo assisted with a review effective 1 February 2020.

We do apologise for the frustration caused.
