awful expirience
<div>I was travelling up Old Mill Way in my Nissan NP 200 on Friday 31 March 2023 around 22.45 when an employee of MZANSI SECURITY (driving an Mzansi Security vehicle) drove past the stop sign at the corner of Prospect Hall Road and Old Mill Way in Durban North without stopping and collided with my vehicle.
My vehicle was hit in the centre on the passenger side, and it spun across the Road and rolled over twice and hit the pavement on the other side. The impact of the hit damaged by wheels and bent my van’s chassis inward and shattered my windscreen and bent my bonnet and the roof and damaged my canopy.
My vehicle was damaged to such an extent that it was undrivable and had to be towed away. To be fair and considerate, I got 3 quotations from different repair shops and all 3 advised that my vehicle is beyond economical repair and must be written off.
This is the vehicle I rely on to generate income in my day-to-day business. I have since been struggling with getting OUTsurance to pay, they gave me an offer of R50 600.00, which I declined and requested them to re-evaluate their offer considering that the value of my car was R165 000.00 before the accident, the cost of repairing the vehicle being R 101 200.00 as per their assessor. Their offer was a slap on the face and was not even enough for me to settle the car which I am still paying. I have had a horrible experience for almost 5 months which has not been resolved to date.
My experience with OUTsurance has been nothing short of a nightmare, I had to constantly follow up with them when they kept on failing to meet their promised turnaround times for my third-party claim. Their response to my situation was very dismissive and indifferent.
Both OUTsurance and Mzansi Security have been sending me from pillar to post, both not caring about the strain this incident has caused and the financial implications. Both refuse to take responsibility despite the quotations I gave and the finance proof that they requested. I also have video footage that shows exactly how the incident happened and clearly shows who is at fault, but both seem to not care. Over and above, my vehicle was towed to a storage yard where the towing and storage cost me an additional R15 650.00. The treatment I got and my encounter with OUTsurance is the opposite of what they claim to represent. Mzansi Security also claims to protect the community, but their ethics are in question. They took their time in submitting my claim to OUTsurance and for a good month OUTsurance kept on telling me that they only received 1 claim which was their claim for their vehicle, it is disgusting how they understand the importance of having transport to conduct business and prioritise having their car fixed while putting off my vehicle whereby they have more them 1 business car and say nothing about my vehicle which is my sole and main source of income for me to get from point A to point B for business. This experience has made me cringe every time I see Mzansi Security vehicles in my neighbourhood.
I am disappointed in both OUTsurance and Mzansi Security.</div>
