Mentioned above it was stated that tis matter would be escalated...unsurprisingly nothing has happened since.
Consultants claimed that their essential cover does not allow for OEM parts?? this was never confirmed with me. Same consultant confirmed that the assessor's report should've been discussed with me before the job proceeded...which never happened.
As a result of the above, our car was fitted with a pirate part with various fitment problems, to which the panel beater confirmed that it would not have been the case with a more sturdy OEM bumper. The pirate part bumper is much thinner. leading to the part having to be stretched to reach the mountings, now there are visible defects.
As a resort, outsurance will do the risk- and blame-shifting to you as customer, taking absolutely no responsibility for anything. The moment they pay out the claim amount into your account, they mark the claim as closed successfully, even if the car is still being towed to a panel beater.
Out of this whole exercise the most satisfactory service I received was with the cancellation of my policies with outsurance.
Please be very careful of them. Their tactics are very sly...they keep you busy on the phone to a point of exertion by when you've agreed to their inferior cover without your knowledge...and only AFTER the initiation of the cover do they send you the policy wording...too late in my opinion.
Going back to SANTAM, got the policy wording along with the quote for the cover to allow me as a customer to make an informed decision. SANTAM was also able to provide FULL and COMPREHENSIVE cover with R0-excess fees for LESS than Outsurance's essential cover!! Please don't make the same mistake I made, thinking I could pay less for good cover, this is a myth!
Let's see if outsurance will be able to right their wrongs.
Looking for options to take this further through the Insurance Ombudsman.
