An Outbonus means nothing if your claims are not resolved.
We are insured with Outsurance. We were in an accident on Saturday 20 January 2018 about 20 km outside Mossel Bay (we stay in Cape Town), we traveled the previous day just over 390km`s with this vehicle from Cape Town to Mossel Bay with no technical/mechanical issues whatsoever no signs of any issues with vehicle.
My wife then traveled an additional 70km the morning of the 20th January before the accident happened... again with no issues or problems. Then the accident happened. A blowout on right rear tyre that made the vehicle spin around on highway before hitting the embankment.
My vehicle was then in Mossel Bay for 8days before it was taken to Cape Town by Outsurance. In this process I specifically asked Outsurance on various occasions to check vehicle for any technical or mechanical issues that might have occurred during the accident because at one stage during the accident the vehicle was going back wards while it was still in drive (automatic gearbox) before we hit the embankment and the vehicle stalled at this point. I then received the report from their panelbeater and dated 14 February 2018 and the inspection was done by a mechanic. It seems like they did quite an comprehensive inspection including the following : 1. Dynostics P0101 2. Dynostics ***93 3. Dynostics P0381 4. Dynostics P0401 All fault codes were cleared. They then took the vehicle for a test drive and all was in order. Then they did a compression test and it was all in order. An oil leak was picked but but categorized as normal wear and tear and not accident related. You don`t have a rocket scientist to realize that they didn`t pick up anything or that anything was wrong with the vehicle at that point assuming that they tested everything as per their report. I have showed that report to a mechanic and he agreed that a mechanic would have picked up the 'problems' (if there were any) with engine/top gasket if he did all the tests as per that report.
I then received a phone call saying that my vehicle was ready for collection on the 27th of February nearly 5 weeks later after the accident occurred. As I arrived at the panelbeaters we inspected the vehicle and I noted scratch marks that weren`t repaired that was in an area that got damaged during the accident. I also asked the panelbeater about a pipe that was damaged behind right rear wheel (the same wheel that had the blowout). I mentioned to him how water was running out from there at the accident scene (I have a policeman as witness) and at that point the panelbeater didn`t even know about that pipe and he was quit surprised, he then called the assessor who was on sight and showed him an the assessor acknowledged that he never noticed the pipe. I was then told to return the vehicle at later stage for those things to be fixed because they had to get authorization from Outsurance because it wasn't part of original assessment/quote. I then asked the panelbeater if the car was good to drive and he assured me and said that as per the report from van mechanic the car was fine and that I good indeed drive it. He also mentioned it to me that they started the vehicle every morning and evening whilst it was in their possession and there were no issues.
I then drove from their premises to Brackenfell about 22km when the vehicle just 'died" without any warning lights coming on at a traffic light leaving me stranded .Please note I didnt even stop somewhere it was about 25 minutes after I left their premises (I have call records). The vehicle was the toed away and another report was compiled by a different mechanic on the 27th advising that a gasket has blown.
I would like to end my story with the following : 1. Before the accident the vehicle was running 100% ((we drove 400km day before accident) 2. The vehicle was tested by the 1st mechanic and they cleared it as well on the 14th of February 2018. 3. I would not have driven that vehicle out the gate of the panelbeater if I was told that that there might be an issue that was picked up in report. 4. So something happened to our vehicle in period 14 Feb - 27 Feb and it was at your repairer, so I will not accept responsibility or be held liable for the repair thereof.

You have been more than patient. You have our sincere apologies for a very taxing service experience.
Our assessing manager has been assisting and it was determined your vehicle is a write-off. This is sadly just such a belated conclusion!
We have made arrangements for a rental vehicle and Lebo will provide you with further feedback on the claim shortly.
