Always looking for reasons NOT TO PAY!

Mel Augustine Mel Augustine Wow guys, let me tell you about my R400 promotion experience with OUTsurance. Appalling & contradictory I tell you. I received a call last Friday - wanting to 'save me money'. No problem, I took the nearly 40min call. Agent went on to do a formal quote (which he didn't send me at the time). He quoted me R780 which was R20 more than my current insurer. Now, as a consumer, I don't understand the insurance lingo so just give it to me as plainly as possible. This was the first quote right, where my excess matched my current excess. Still, not saving me money. Then I said, I would do one more quote with another insurer and that he could call back. So he did, and the competition came in at R680 (we have not signed this yet) but based on the quote, I said to the agent that we have received a better quote/rate with another provider and it seems they were not able to save me money. I then went on to say that "I guess you owe me R400?" and then he was hesitant to answer the question. And I went to remind him that I would listen and compare which I did and that if he couldn't beat that, he would owe me the R400. Now, I'm not one to chase after money but don't give me the runaround when it's your turn to pay when you also didn't explain this process to me PROPERLY. I was not aware that I would have to upload my documents (not a problem) to prove just one thing. Anyway, I completed the application only to be told that my quote was for R707 (already red flags go up because I know that was definitely NOT the amount I was quoted on the phone). He then went on to compare the excess WHICH WAS NOW EXACTLY THE SAME AS MY CURRENT PROVIDER so not sure how this was saving me money. 2 emails later, the quote went from being R707 to R720 - nothing here is consistent however, they claim to be able to save me money??? Here's the problem; my quote went from one amount to 2 different amounts in a matter of minutes telling me it could have been altered quick enough to avoid payout...quick to onboard but extremely slow to stick to promises and super slow to make an actual payout. Based on this back and forth and the changing of the premium AFTER the fact.. this is not a company I would sign up with. Tip: perhaps you should advise in detail what it will cost you to actually get the R400 so people know whether it's worth their while!
