Absurd Rerate after nearly 4 claim free years
I took an outsurance building insurance in April 2017 when i bought my property. Never claimed throughout the years, until 2021 Jan when my geyser burst. Less than a month later, i got a rerate letter with a 37% increase on my premiums from R425 to R585. Nearly 4 years claim free and i'm penalized for 1 geyser burst claim. I have called in twice already trying to get a better rate but to no available. I have never skipped a payment even through the covid bad times, with salary cuts. Im being told the same story of how its not a punishment but rather a way to ensure that Outsurance may keep up with my property value. My property value has not gone up by even 15%. Im really considering cancelling both me and my wife's policies too if this is how we treated if we make a single claim after all these claim free years. Surely got me thinking what will happen with my life policy if i die, seeing how they treat me while i'm still alive with my other policies.
Thanks for raising your concerns with us.
Carmandri our client services manager has been in contact with you to address your concerns regarding the rerate. She went through your policy in detail and also updated insured values.
There are several factors that will influence a premium increase at rerate stage such as claims, inflationary adjustments, underwriting changes etc.

OUTsurance.
