A very hard lesson taught.
Please be advised that to anyone who reads this, that when making a claim on a computer or laptop, to keep any receipts or upgrades made to this machine and notify your insurer straight away. I have lost/ ****** a laptop, and one of the main topic of discussion is the upgrades (increased HDD and increased RAM), that I must magically supply invoices or proof for these upgrades were done 3-4 years ago. Nowhere in my policy does it say I must advise of these things... but anyway what can you do. It really does seem they try everything to find an excuse not to pay / replace.. amazing how they don't ask for invoices when you insure the item either, as no I must prove that I actually owned it. For a laptop bought at end 2010., but happy to take you R500 + premium .. If only they advise of the prerequisites when you insure. Makes for an unpleasant experience.
