3rd party frustration

Recently, my vehicle was bumped by a third party who is covered with Outsurance. The gentleman involved was courteous enough to leave his contact details and re-assured me that his insurer (outsurance) will sort the damages. When I initially contacted them, the requirements were clear, some photos of the damage and for me to obtain a quote on the damages, which I provided. On receipt of all the requirements, I was then advised that I need to send a copy of my VIN plate to make sure that the vehicle was not ******. Again, although annoyed with the second request (as it almost seems like an escape out of the payment), I provided this too..Thankfully my car is not ****** so I thought that the claim would now be settled. Only to find, that they have another process to now reduce the claim. My claim now needs to be reverted to their assessor and payment will be made according to their valuation of the damages.

My frustration here is that, why was this not done in the first place!!!! I would have gladly accepted their valuation had it been requested upfront as it almost seems fine for them to waste my time to get the quote. Further than this, the panelbeater that they have gotten the quote from is one that I dealt with before and the previous workmanship was unsatisfactory. The feedback I am getting is that they can choose whichever panelbeater they prefer as according to law-they are only obliged to get the car restored to what it was before the damage. Never mind that I had a bad experience or that they wasted my time to get the quote to begin with.

I am appalled with the way I have been treated and ironically enough, I was an ambassador of their service prior to this experience. The difference in the claim is R1224.40...what would they do if it was a bigger amount!!!!!!

I find it grossly abusive that we as consumers are exploited in this way and fear that due to their sheer size, it is ok for them to get away with this . I have asked if there is internal arbitration processes that can relook at it, I have asked for their legal team to commit that I am obligated by the quote that they get and despite numerous back and forth emails, I have not received either one of these...REALLY!
