27% Increase, Response Time Shocking!

I received my premium increase letter, and the premium for vehicle insurance was increased by 27%! I asked them to review the increase, and they came back with a 15% increase - more than double what inflation is. In the 6 years that I have been with Outsurance, they have always managed to decrease my premium upon review.

In addition, when I log a query on their website, regardless of what the issue is, I have always had someone call me back within 10 minutes - which was amazing. Now, it takes an entire day for anyone to respond. Compared to what it used to be, the customer service is appalling.

I think it may just be time to consider a new insurance company.

Thank you for notifying us. Mapula our client care manager has contacted you to resolve the matter. There are several factors that will determine a premium increase at re-rate stage. There were claims during the last year which had an influence on the premium however our review department has assisted you with a better premium and you were happy with the new premium.

Thank you Kelvin, I do appreciate your assistance.

I would just like to clarify - does the "penalty" for claiming not come through in the Outbonus scheme, rather than the premium hikes? If one loses their Outbonus and reverts to a 3 year cycle, as well as having an increased premium because of claims, it's almost like a double penalty.

(Previously, regardless of whether I had claimed or not, it was always the Outbonus which was affected, and not the premiums.)

Regards,

Nicole

Thank you for your query. You are not being penalised twice as the OUTbonus is a bonus benefit . It rewards you for being claim free during the cycle. The annual re-rate is dependant on inflation, claims, non-payment etc. Hope this helps.
