Almost ****** of R115 by Outdoor Warehouse

In Outdoor Warehouse at Willowbridge this morning, I found an item (Tsunamie Case) I was interested in, but which was not priced.

So, I asked the stop assistant Jolandie to price the item. She checked the system and priced the item at R155.

I browsed around further and then went to the checkout with my girlfriend to pay for the item. I provided my card and pin and the money was taken from my card, to conclude the transaction; but my girlfriend then questioned the price and found that I had been charged R270 for the Tsunamie Case.

I immediately complained and asked for a refund of the difference as I believe I am entitled to under the Consumer Protection Act, but the cashier (Lorraine) didn't know what to do and summoned the manager (Enwill Alexander) who kept us waiting for about 10min, before coming to assist.

Mr Alexander didn't appear much concerned and refused to supply the item at the advised price, claiming this was due to 'human error'. He didn't seem to appreciate that if my girlfriend had not noticed the error, I would have paid R115 for the 'human error' of his staff member and the fact that he had not marked the item as he is supposed to do.

Ironic that Outdoor Warehouse say on their website: "At Outdoor Warehouse, we go the extra mile to help you get the most out of every product and outdoor activity." .... what mile was that?

Well, Outdoor Warehouse did get back to me and did make good by supplying the item at the price originally advised ... just a pity the Willowbridge manager didn't see fit to do that in the first place!
