WP23

I bought teh WP23 and and at first I was very impressed with this R3700 rugged phone. Unfortunately that was short lived. The phone started to give a whole host of problems. Rebooting by itself quite a few times daily. No reception even though it shows 4 Bars. Can't make use of the internet even though it shows 3G People can't get hold of me but when they phone the person I'm sharing an office with they get through to them. The staff was very friendly and was eager to assist me but that would have meant I have to send the phone to them and that would have left me without a device for an specified time. I must mention they wanted to assist me with a replacement by paying a security deposit. I will rather buy new phone. (The phone was bought 4 months ago)

Dear Anthony,
Thank you for sharing your experience with us. We’re genuinely sorry to hear that your WP23 has been giving you trouble, and we understand the frustration of being without a reliable device.
To clarify our process, we previously offered loan units without requiring a security deposit. Unfortunately, we had instances where customers did not return these devices, which led us to establish a security deposit policy. This policy ensures that we can continue providing loan units responsibly. Here’s how it works:

  1. If a repair takes longer than expected, we issue a loan unit to customers who do not have an alternative device, covering them until their device is returned.
  2. For customers who need to transfer data to the loan unit while keeping their original device temporarily, we request a small security deposit (R1000), which is refunded when the loan unit is returned.

Our Repairs Operations Manager confirmed that these options were explained to you, but we understand if this arrangement didn’t meet your needs.

Please know that a physical assessment of the phone by our technician is essential to determine the exact cause of the issues and assess whether a repair or replacement is necessary. This is standard practice across the smartphone industry in South Africa, and, unlike some brands, we aim to assist our customers by offering a loan option.

We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your feedback. If you reconsider, we’re here to support you in getting your device back in top shape.

Best regards,
Oukitel South Africa Team
