Absolutely Appalling

Absolutely appalling! We checked in a few weeks ago at The Coach House. On a few people's recommendation for a birthday weekend break, my younger brother and his partner was joining us the following day. On arrival the receptionist was actually sleeping on the job. The lights of the doorway and path to our door wasn't working. The bedding was stained in our Double Deluxe room. There were only 1 hand towel and 1 bath towel in the bathroom and the reservation was made for 2 guests. On arrival at the restaurant the waiter first got our drink order wrong. On request of the wine list to view their beverage selection the waiter then proceeded to plonk 5/6 different bottles of white & rose wines on our table of which he didn't even know the prices. On enquiring about their red wine he only offered 1 bottle of wine. I enquired about the food options and was told the only option available was a buffet. On closer inspection of the buffet of almost R200 per person there was only s****s left in the chaving dishes. On enquiring if they are going to replenish the dishes we were told to dish up from what is left. I then proceeded to the reception to find out if we could possibly try ordering from their room service menu - which we found limited to mostly salads and burger type meals. This was at 8 in the evening a whole hour before the kitchen was said to close. A manager approached us and asked if He could arrange a proper meal be sent to our room. We took him up on his offer and placed our food and beverage order with him and then went back to our room. When we arrived at the room we realised the following: There is only a tiny bit of toilet paper on the roll and no replacement. There is no milk at the tea/coffee station in the room. No television remote. The phone is not connected to the reception and other departments as indicated on the handset so I had to phone the hotel from my cell to report these matters. As we were still waiting on our meal & beverages and unable to make coffee due to the lack of milk I ordered 2 cups hot chocolate. Eventually the hot chocolate arrived. An hour after we ordered our meal we were still waiting. My partner then went to the main building to find out what the delay was. Eventually he actually had to enter the kitchen in an attempt to get some assistance / answers. He saw an order resembling ours standing on the hot kitchen pass already dried out from obviously standing there for quite some time. Eventually he got to speak to the General Manager who managed to arrange for replacement meal. Still not what we ordered and none of our ordered beverages but by then we were totally famished. The next evening after a day spent sightseeing we got to our room only to find that in the newly 'serviced' room the stained bedding was still on the bed, there was dirty cutlery left in the room from our dinner the night before, still no TV remote, less towels an no toilet paper whatsoever not even on the roll. All the above issues was raised with the GM who promised me a refund which I obviously never got. I'm urging all fellow travelers to never make use of this establishment. This old gem and it's previously pristine reputation has been tarnished and destroyed by the current management. I have read several similar reviews since our visit and sadly this establishment is ruining many tourists experience of the hotel group
