Orchard lodge step down
My mother was recently placed in Orchard Lodge post a knee replacement at age 87. The physio came to the hospital, the same day that the request was made, to assess suitability. This allowed for a swift transition to step down, post hospital. On arrival, we were warmly welcomed by the team and the smell of BAKING , which immediately put my mother at ease. Her room has an on-suite bathroom , which is shared with another patient but easily accessible. She has a 24 hour bell , with which she can call for assistance at any time. The staff have all been so accommodating to our personalized needs. They are always open to discuss any queries, concerns and forward planning we have. The doctors visits have been both essential and reassuring for my mother. Post op medical concerns were taken note of and the doctor felt at ease liaising with the hospital treating doctor. The Physiothe******s have guided her in her path back to mobility and independence and have been encouraging and motivating on an emotional level as well. When additional motivation was required, management, matron, doctor and physio were all involved in facilitating this. Sometimes we need to look at the holistic picture when assessing a facility, rather than the small things which we may be unhappy with. Orchard seems to fit all these criteria. I feel safe and confident to leave my mother in their care.
