Lack of service
On the 18th May 2020 I made an enquiry with Marlon Phillips regarding a medical aid cover in the light of my upcoming divorce settlement outcome. I made it completely clear to Marlon that I would only require the medical if I was not to remain on my wifes medical aid. He made a note that the cover and all the additional extras (Gap Cover, Multiply) would only start on 1 July 2020. And if I were to cancel it before the said date then nothing would be deducted from my account as the policy and the extras would be declared non active and cancelled. On the 28th May 2020 I got confirmation from the lawyers that I would stay on wifes medical for 2 years, so I sent Marlon the cancellation email which I had originally mentioned to him may happen, the same day as it was close to the end of month. I got a confirmation email from him and took it that everything was cancelled as it was meant to be and left it like that. On the 1st September 2020 a deduction of R258.00 was made from my account with a reference to Momentum Medical Aid. I immediately contacted Marlon via email regarding this as he was the 1st point of contact. He was unfortunately out of office and I was given another contact email, Zelda Kockott asking her to sort out this problem to which she emailed Marlon my original email regarding the deduction and to him to provide me and her with feedback. So hence nothing was done. I sent a follow up request on the 7th September as I had not heard back from either of them regarding this problem. Finally on the 10th September 2020 Marlon sent me an email Good day Mr S Benade I have sent your query to the relevant department and am awaiting response from them, I have once again this morning requested confirmation of the cancellation and refund. After that no further feedback was received. Until I called Momentum 14th September 2020 and spoke to a consultant there and she told me the deduction was for the Gap Cover on my policy and not them and hung up.I then phoned InsureMed to find out about the policy I spoke to Krystle and she told me that the policy had been cancelled the 01-06-2020 and she sent me a confirmation email which says it was cancelled before inception so they did not deduct money from my account. Still no response from Marlon or Zelda at this point. After I sent another email to Marlon and Zelda on the 25th September 2020 with no reply got a call from from Louise Corner from Gap cover who use to work for Optivest and she asked me to send through the banking statement and after checking it she confirmed that it was Momentum Multiply deduction R258. She gave me Teresa Sullivan contact number which I phone on the 28th, 29th, 30th leaving messages each time no response. On the 1st October yet again another deduction was made R258. So now highly agitated with the absolute lack of response from ANYONE at Optivest, I went ahead and contacted Momentum again this time via email. I got a response from Taryn at Momentum Multiply since this is who Lousie confirmed was making the deductions from my account just by checking the reference code on the statement. After back and forth with them which was better than nothing from Optivest who were the brokers of this whole setup. I finally get and email from Momentum Multiply stating that my policy is now officially cancelled and I would need to send them the original request of cancelation, I sent them my original cancellation request that I had sent Marlon in May and they sent a reply that they had never received anything from Optivest and hence I was still liable for the premiums deducted in September and now October so no refund would be forthcoming. So now I am filing a complaint with Optivest as I have had to pay for something that should have been cancelled in May already. I will clearly never deal with Optivest ever again due to the lack and utter disregard for client service to date I have had NO FURTHER RESPONSE FROM Marlon or Zelda
