False Advice, horrible customer service.

Early 2024 I had to switch medical aids for various reasons. I was referred to Optivest to assist me with choosing the correct program.

On our previous medical aid my wife had to go for an emergency abcess removal and bone graft. I had disclosed this to Optivest more than once during the process and SPECIFICALLY mentioned that my wife will have to go for an implant later in 2024, to replace the tooth she lost in the aforementioned procedure. I had also specifically mentioned the service provider that we are using for these procedures. I was re-assured by the Optivest consultant that it will be covered. Having peace of mind, I accepted the package as discussed.

Few months later, after the waiting period, my wife goes for the first phase of the procedure, and the medical aid does not cover a single cent. Apparently the service provider is not on the list. After specifically asking about this procedure and being re-assured that it will be covered, it turned out to be false advice.

This was not the first issue. When we moved over to the new medical aid there was a huge mix up with the debit orders. I had a very difficult time to reach the consultant that assisted me at the beginning. He avoided my telephone calls, and his e-mail replies to me, when it happened by chance, were hastily written and unprofessional.

Needless to say, I would have been better off doing my own research into medical aids, rather than utilising a brokerage that was simply in it for a quick commission.
