Discriminatory And Petty Service
I arrived for an appointment in October 2024 as I needed assistance with innersole as I have one leg shorter than the other. The Consultation went well and I was promised innersoles, shoes and a tackie. I have an RAF (Road Accident Fund) Letter of Guarantee for any medical procedure or orthotics from a motor vehicle (Bike) accident.
The Consultation was professional and I was told my type of claim would normally take multiple months. I undertook to live with this kind of framework and waited...
Now, towards the end of January 2025, I contacted the Bellville office for any feedback regarding my claim. This is where things started getting 'interesting'. I was told the boss lady would call me back within a day for feedback.
This never happened and a week passed by, with no call. I then called again and the same story... The boss lady is at 'the hospital' for lengthy periods and would call me back with an update.
That was January 27, and to this day no call. Now this is where I surmise this office thinks they are dealing with an 'illiterate coloured from Mitchells Plain' and "we can spin him any yarn."
They were giggling on the telephone during my last telephone conversation. This is so sad when this kind of treatment is still very alive in Cape Town.
As a Senior Hospitality and Business Management Lecturer this would have made an interesting case study for my class, and the 'joke' would have been reversed. Fortunately, I have just retired in 2021.
Anyway, OP Active Bellville may your business flourish exponentially amongst your White Customer base. People of Color are your laughingstock. Kindest Regards Eddie Adams
To this date, 13 January 2026, my case has still not been resolved. Through no fault of OP Active Bellville. The RAF have offered excuse after excuse why they cannot finalise my matter. The last email I received from a *** was to say ``I am still waiting on the other department`` to finalise.
Needless to say, OP Active Bellville has now become my partner and has taken on this humongous task of trying to get a Resolution on my Legal Undertaking with the RAF. Maryke Groenewald has been a stalwart in trying to get closure on this matter.
My matter started in 2024 when OP Active Bellville submitted invoices to the RAF for approval and payment. I am now suffering severe pain and discomfort as a result of not being fitted with the necessary support implements.
At times, we, the 'Customer", call out the Vendor/Supplier and belittle them unnecessarily. This all whilst the Vendor is tirelessly trying to resolve the matter.
My sincerest apologies go out to Mayke Groenewald and OP Active Bellville for my knee-jerk reaction. And please accept my sincerest thanks for partnering with me to resolve my 2-year-old matter with The Road Accident Fund. The technical part was quite a 'First World' experience, but the RAF delay leaves a bitter taste in the mouth. Well done, Maryke Groenewald & Team!
Great to have you in my corner, OP Active Bellville. Sincerest Regards. Eddie Adams
