Onomo Hotel - Sandton

Horrific stay at ONOMO Sandton. Save your money and go elsewhere.

I stayed at ONOMO Hotel Sandton on 16 August for a single night before catching an international flight. I wanted to try something new, but it turned out to be an absolute mess. The only saving grace was the front desk staff—both the receptionist in the evening upon my arrival and the one on shift in the morning were great. I have nothing against them. Everything else, however, was horrific: Inappropriate Lobby Vibe: The reception area was blasting loud music. I love gospel music as much as the next Christian, but a hotel foyer is completely the wrong setting for it. Tiny, Unsafe Room: A standard room is the size of a matchbox and visually depressing. To make matters worse, it's a safety hazard—the bedside plug point literally sparked when I tried to charge my phone. Crass Room Service: The person who answered the room service line was rude, crass, and spoke to me like I was a hobo. They then delivered an incomplete order while charging me the full amount, forcing me to call back to demand the rest of my food. Zero Sleep: The noise in the hallway at night was absolutely ridiculous, making it impossible to rest before a long overseas flight. This was my first and last time staying at an ONOMO property. Next time, I will gladly pay a little extra to stick to reliable hotels that actually care about guest safety and basic customer service. Never ever again.
