I have had a terrible experience with an agent by the name of dorota sil. I had contacted her regarding an apartment I was hoping to rent. We had arranged a viewing and due to me being in port Elizabeth and relocating at the end of the month, I could not physically be there to view, I had assigned a proxy in my stead.
While at the viewing everything went well we had informed her the same day that I'd be taking the property and we can get the paperwork started. She had mentioned there were multiple units still available. By 8am the next morning I had completed all requested paperwork and paid an application fee. 2 days later, she sends an email back saying that the owner has already signed a lease and there are no units left. This is utter negligence on their behalf and utterly unfair as they have now refused to refund the R300 application fee after dealing in bad faith. Dorata sil is nothing more than a *********** who has set this up so that I'd be compelled to continue with her so that she could secure a commission from letting a rental unit to me. This is pathetic behavior.
I will be taking them further to the national complains commission.
We have looked into this matter, and you submitted an application which included an "application fee" which is a result of the time and effort spent while assessing and vetting your application. It was made very clear that this is a non-refundable fee, regardless of the outcome of the application and is standard in our rental applications nationwide.
In this particular the Landlord received various applications some of which were successful, and some were not.
I trust this brings some clarity in respect of your complaint.
