Crankshaft issue

08.06.2016 - After shopping around Online Carparts had the best price for an Isuzu KB250D crankshaft. I got it together with bearings and seals and took to my auto repair shop to install. When I got the vehicle back it did less than 50km and lost all power. The repair shop took out the engine and the crankshaft, which i took to a crankshaft specialist. He did a metal hardness test in front of me and proved that it did not come close to the Isuzu specifications.

12.07.2016 - I returned the crankshaft and bearings to Online Carparts, North View Centre, Randburg and was told I needed return with the engineers report and they would gladly refund me the cost. I believe the whole invoice should be refunded- if the crankshaft was up to spec there would have been no need to replace bearings and seals again!

The engineers report is going to cost me R 1,000.00 - an unnecessary cost if the goods sold were up to specification. I believe this is ***** and will see what my best option is to get a refund - The Consumer Protection Act or through the Bank as a case of *****, seeing that I paid by credit card.

Hello
Thank you for your review.
We constantly look at the products we sell and its supplier and rate them. We discussed a full refund with you. The Manager also explained that we require documentation from the Engineers who assessed the crankshaft as defective. Certain suppliers require technical documentation before accepting goods for a refund. We kindly requested this documentation and it will certainly not cost R1000.00 and should be free since they already assessed it and gave you an opinion.
Also, you never gave us details of the repair shop who initially fitted the crankshaft. What were their certification and are they RMI approved.
We strongly recommend you give the supplier a report from the Engineer so that we can process your refund.

Thank you for your speedy response. It is your assumption that the technical documentation will be free - I was quoted R 1,000.00 for a written report.
With regards to the repair shop certification, I will get that to submit with the engineers report.
