One & Only - Vista Coffee Lounge & Bar: Pathetic Quality and Financial Rip-off

We were at the Vista Coffee Lounge & Bar for drinks and desserts. The Milkshake of R95 was worse than homemade Nesquick! The desserts were the cakes of the day: Carrot Cake Slice, Oreo Cheesecake & Chocolate Cake Slice.

Strawberry Milkshake - this was made with milk and most likely some artificial milkshake flavour instead of making a traditional milkshake it was made with ice and the straw was broken! We sent it back and they replaced it but in all honesty, the Nesquick powder tastes much better!!!!

Carrot Cake Slice - it was so dry, chunky and chewy definitely an insult to all other carrot cakes. I would not recommend it. Also, these were supposed to be cake slices and were entremets and NOT cake slices.

Oreo Cheesecake - flavourless half sphere 10 - 15cm entremet sold as a slice of cake for R95. It was not a cheesecake at all instead it was flavourless, tiny, spongy and had a kinetic sand texture! In fact, we were 6 people and we ordered one of each cake slice of the day and there was still something left at the end of the evening.

Chocolate Cake Slice - This was NO CHOCOLATE CAKE SLICE! Actually, this was a chocolate ****in cut in half and filled with some flavourless filling for R65 each, the cake was also dry and left a lot to be desired,

The cakes were so pathetic that I even offered to bake for them to show them what real cakes and desserts should taste like. Needless to say, don't waste your time and money on this as its a rip-off. When one thinks of the One & Only you expect quality and a taste experience to match this was NOT the case. The waiter was kind and polite but even after expressing our concerns, he did not attempt to contact management or the chef on duty, so that was rather pathetic. Upon leaving we paid our bill and he said he would take it up with the Chef, manager and kitchen staff and said he would get back to us. Sadly, he never even bothered to take our contact details which proves that there is no interest in addressing our issues or taking it further. Really pathetic and not worth the visit, do yourselves a favour and rather go to the Table Bay Hotel Coffee Lounge.
