We had a very tricky situation - a minor in need of a passport in short order due to the death of his mother, the father in a different region, me in the U.S. It was a lot of doing to get everyone in the same place at the same time. It turned out we ALSO needed an unabridged passport and a South African ID. While those two things cost additional fees, we got the birth certificate in 24 hours(!) and the passport in 10 business days, delivered! From where I sit, this felt like a couple of minor miracles and one major one. Ismail was supportive and professional throughout. He coordinated with their office in Pretoria, and kept all the parties (four of us on my end) in the loop.
