Major Mechanical Failure – Chev Aveo 2009 1.6 – CF201-287 On 28 May 2026, while driving home from work, I heard a severe noise coming from the engine. I managed to drive the vehicle home safely. I immediately contacted Motor Mech Auto and left a detailed message with the receptionist, explaining the situation and requesting that a mechanic return my call. Despite this request, I never received a call back. I subsequently contacted Carl from Tyremart and asked him to recommend a reliable mechanic. Within minutes, he referred me to Quinton from One Stop Auto. I arranged for my insurance company to tow the vehicle to One Stop Auto on 29 May 2026. Findings by One Stop Auto Following an inspection, Quinton identified the following issues: • Damaged timing belt • Gearbox requiring replacement • Four engine mounting studs broken • Engine not correctly aligned, causing the studs to break and resulting in damage to the timing belt 3 June 2026 – One Stop Auto The following repairs were completed: • Replaced gearbox with a second-hand unit • Replaced timing belt • Replaced four mounting bolts/studs Throughout the repair process, from 29 May to 3 June 2026, I was kept fully informed regarding the progress of the work and the expected costs. I found Quinton to be professional, trustworthy and genuinely concerned about my safety and the reliability of my vehicle. His communication and workmanship were excellent. Follow-Up Repairs On 6 June 2026, the engine warning light came on and the vehicle developed a significant oil leak. I contacted Quinton immediately and explained the situation. His first concern was whether I was safe, and he advised that he would inspect the vehicle on Monday morning. 8 June 2026 – One Stop Auto Quinton identified the following: • O2 sensor causing the engine warning light • Selector box requiring replacement The following corrective actions were taken: • O2 sensor cleaned and warning light reset • New selector box installed • Gear linkage adjusted and set correctly • Vehicle thoroughly test-driven All of this work was completed at no additional cost. Conclusion: Based on my experience, I would highly recommend One Stop Auto to anyone requiring vehicle servicing or repairs. Their communication, professionalism, workmanship and commitment to customer service were exceptional. As of 10 June 2026, I have still not received a single return phone call from Motor Mech Auto regarding the message I left on 28 May 2026 after the major mechanical failure. Given the circumstances, particularly the subsequent findings relating to the engine alignment, broken mounting studs and damaged timing belt, I believe there are serious concerns regarding the workmanship and communication provided by Motor Mech Auto.
