Very disappointing and misleading experience with Onair TV
Very disappointing and misleading experience with Onair TV I am extremely disappointed with my experience with Onair TV and would not recommend them based on how this matter was handled.
I received a call from Onair TV where I was told that they were calling on behalf of DStv and that DStv was phasing out the decoder I was currently using, meaning that my existing decoder would apparently stop working soon. Based on what I was told during the call, I was persuaded to accept a new decoder, which was subsequently delivered to me.
I have not used the decoder and no longer want the service. When I contacted Onair TV's call centre to cancel and arrange for the decoder to be returned, I was told that they cannot take the decoder back and cannot cancel my subscription. I was also told that Onair TV is not working with DStv, despite the original call giving me the impression that they were calling on behalf of DStv. I was further told that I cannot simply return the decoder to DStv.
This is extremely concerning. In my experience, the sales call created a sense of urgency by telling me that my existing DStv decoder would soon stop working, and I felt pressured into accepting the new decoder and debit-order mandate over the phone.
The entire experience has left me feeling that I was misled into signing up for a service I did not want. If the company is not affiliated with or calling on behalf of DStv, that should be made absolutely clear from the beginning. Customers should not be pressured into accepting a debit order based on information that they may reasonably understand to be coming from DStv.
I am very unhappy with the way this has been handled and would strongly advise potential customers to verify any claims made during these sales calls directly with DStv before agreeing to anything or providing a debit-order mandate.
