I wish to report that I was harassed into agreeing to accept an Ultra view Decoder in August by two different sales people from On Air whom I presumed were part of DSTV. They told me my current decoder would not have any further maintenance. It’s going fine by the way. While extolling the virtues of this Ultra view Decoder they did not explain: 1. That I would need my own satellite dish. I share reception on a communal dish. I sent a letter from my supervisor confirming this. 2. I live in a high rise building which will need cabling at a huge cost as well as the dish. I am a pensioner and cannot afford this. 3. That, in order to enjoy the full benefits of the decoder I need to have the Premium subscription which I cannot afford. I was also not told about this. 4. Or that I need internet connection. 5. I will be moving to a retirement high rise and will also utilize their communal dish. Therefore I do not want the decoder and asked them to collect it. I have emailed repeatedly from August and the response is the same from Ntokozo Thusi via freshdesk.com that the matter is resolved. “We do understand, however you are still bound to the 24 month contract and we are unfortunately unable to cancel due to you being out of the cooling off period”. How can this be as I was not given the correct information by ON AIR consultants in the first place? Why did DSTV share my private information with ON AIR without my permission? I have never been in contact with DSTV to give them any idea I was interested in changing my decoder. I thought the POPI ACT guaranteed privacy. Just looking at all the complaints about ON AIR reflects that big companies can rip anyone off. With no accountability.
