On Air is a ****.

Misrepresentation, refusal to cancel contract Ignoring CPA stipulations with no resolution.

I took out a contract with OnAir after they called me offering a package for R99 with a decoder.

I asked if I would be able to watch Moto GP with the decoder and offering, the answer was 'yes'.

To my discovery, this was not the case.

Needless to say, I kept the decoder and used it a few times with limited success, ignoring the fact that it doesnt really suit my needs and I cannot really watch anything that would be f use to me.

Needless to say, its new me, 2026 is here. We are clearing out things that are not needed, this includes paying for things that are not necessary.

Paying R99 for something I have not used in around six months at least is one of those things.

I took the decoder to the DSTV walk in office in Randburg, they say they cant help me, I need to call On Air. I do just so, only to be told by Znele Sithole, "No, you cant cancel your contract, you have to keep on paying until it ends. You can give the device to someone else to use if you dont want it, but we will keep billing you until the contract concludes.".

So with this attitude in mind, I request that Karen Pillay contacts me back so we can discuss this further.

This is my fair notice to cancel my contract. You have the following options:

Option 1 – Immediate Cancellation (No Penalty)

Cancel the contract immediately with no further charges, on the basis that:

The service was misrepresented at point of sale (I was explicitly advised that MotoGP would be available).

The bouquet provided does not include MotoGP, which was a material reason for entering into the contract.

I have not used the service for the past six months, as it does not meet my requirements.

Option 2 – Downgrade to Zero-Cost / Hold Account

Place the account on zero billing or suspension until the end of the original term, with:

No monthly charges.

No penalties.

No further debit orders.

Equipment to be returned immediately.

This resolves the dispute without further escalation.

Option 3 – Early Termination (CPA Compliant)

Proceed with early cancellation under the Consumer Protection Act, with:

Written confirmation of cancellation.

Only a reasonable cancellation fee (if any), strictly in line with CPA guidelines.

No further billing beyond the cancellation date.

Option 4 – Refund & Cancellation

Cancel the contract and provide a refund of unused subscription fees, given that:

The core purpose of the contract (MotoGP access) was not deliverable.

The service was effectively unusable for my needs.

Option 5 – Escalation Path (If Unresolved)

If none of the above options are accepted, I will proceed with:

Formal complaint to the Consumer Goods & Services Ombud (CGSO).

Lodging a case with the National Consumer Commission (NCC).

Disputing all further debit orders with my bank.

In closing.

I am not disputing cancellation, only the conditions under which it occurs. This contract was entered into based on incorrect information, and I am seeking a reasonable, lawful resolution without further escalation.

Regards.
