Misleading Direct Marketing

OnAir Tv contacted us in December pretending to be from Multichoice/DStv. They told me my SD PVR will be discontinued shortly and I must upgrade to an Explora to avoid being cut off and avoid an increase in monthly payments. I hadn't used the SD PVR for years already and I currently have two Exploras in my installation. Thinking DStv won't mislead me I went ahead with it. After my office taking delivery of the Explora last week we discovered that it was not Multichoice who called but OnAirTv. It shows that I will have to pay R99 for 24 Months (R2400 for an Explora costing R1400) and installation voucher. I informed them I dont need installation as I already have a smart Lnb and I can just unplug my old Explora and plug the new one in. They told me it must be installed by their installer and the installer needs to take my existing dish and brand new smart Lnb with them in exchange for the new dish and Lnb. On the phone with the sales person at OnAirTv I ws very much mislead about the deal they offer, the part about my services being discontinued if I use the SD PVR are not true at all. I have since excersised my right to cancel the contract in terms of Section 16(3) of the CPA. A warning to all future clients of OnAirTv, they will do anything to get you to agree to their contracts, even with lies. Their marketing tactics are extremely *********. I hope my efforts to cancel this contract goes smoothly.
