On call locksmiths

I had an issue with my garage on Saturday 30 September. I looked up a locksmith on google and found the locksmith on call center. I immediately contacted them. Was told they service all areas and that the call out fee was R150. I explained the reason why I needed a locksmith and I was told that this would be an easy job to do( my garage remote was not working so I needed an manual override key to open it, which I did not have) I was asked to send my address, name and the problem that needed sorting out. I did just that and asked for an estimate. Was told the locksmith would determine this when he arrived. A guy by the name of Martin arrived. Firstly I should have realized something was off about the whole thing, but I was just grateful that my garage would be opened. He fiddled around for a few minutes and then told me he would need to drill through the lock which took literally all of 2minutes to complete and my garage was open. He then had a look at my garage motor and told me the problem was with the motor and not the remote. He then insisted on checking my motherboard to make sure that none of the switches had tripped. I assured him they were all fine however he insisted on checking it . I let him check this and he confirmed all working. At this time I realized that something was extremely off. I then asked him what I owed him for the job. He said he would have to call it in and check what it cost. Took about 5minutes and I asked what the holdup was. Keeping in mind he did not make a call but rather sent a WhatsApp message. After about 10minutes he told me the total cost of job would R2800. At this time I was in shock and asked him if he was serious and how could it ever have amounted to that amount. I asked if I could speak to his manager and what his name was as I was not prepared to pay that kind of money for a 5minute job and I verbalized that this was a complete ripoff as I have previously had locksmiths come out over a weekend and never have I ever had this crazy amount being charged. He then continued to say he only gets R200 as commission and he could. Eventually after much back and forth I then contacted a JJ on the WhatsApp number he confirmed the call out from. He was extremely rude and uptight when I told him that it’s really a ripoff and that I could not pay that amount. He then rudely and arrogantly told me R2200 was what o could pay and that’s best he could do and proceeded to put the phone down on me. At this stage I knew I would not win and I asked the guy by the name of Martin to provide me with the account number to do an instant EFT to payment. I asked him what the name of the company was and I was told Easy Locksmiths. On trying to make the payment the card number he provided said error on card or bank and card not recognized. After 3 Attempts I aborted it and immediately he asked if I could do a Geo payment. I proceeded to then do a Geo payment. The name that appeared on the Geo payment said Frans Henning. I then asked him where Martin comes in and he told me it is his name that he uses and the other name is more official. Once payment was made and confirmed he scuttled out so fast. I sad to say that in this day and age we can trust know one..they are going around ****ming and ripping decent people off and have utterly know shame in doing so. I would just like to warn anyone who has ever used their services or intend doing so to be extremely careful as it’s not what it appears to be.
