Honestly - Don't waste your time

In August 2016 I logged a complaint regarding a vehicle that was sold to me with "FSH" and dropped a valve costing some R170000 to be repaired. Since it was within 3 months of me purchasing the vehicle and turned out the motor had been opened previuosly I thought it was a clear cut case.

MIOSA does not get back to you and it appears the dealerships are well aware of this. The issue ontop of this is that even if MIOSA makes a ruling, the dealership is not legally binded to it and in complicated cases (like mine) can just reject the ruling and therefore, in effect, exculating the matter to the courts.

I raised my complaint to the bank, who informed me that because MIOSA is so overwhelmed that are starting to get involved with the cases. Thankfully the bank was able to correct my problem. However the dealership, even at the banks expense with lawyers, refused to correct the car in terms of CPA and would rather pay lawyers to fight me/bank. MIOSA has been DEAD quite.

All the stories then come out, most people it seems wait 2/3 years for any sort of response and infact one mate got a email saying "Is your case solved?" (meaning has he as a customer sorted it out).

This seems to have become the typical customer service in South Africa.
