Don't Even Bother

<p>This may be the worst, most useless ombudsman in South Africa. They do absolutely nothing unless you chase them and then they misquote the consumer protection act and simply side with the story provided by the business.</p> <p> </p> <p>In 2015 we took a vehicle to Wayne Clark in Plumstead. We clearly stated we wanted the vehicle repaired. When he returned the vehicle to us it was running very badly. He claimed we had only asked him to get the car starting and had not specified he should carry out any additional repairs. He pointed out another part that he claimed was the reason the car was running poorly. A day later the car died completely. When we called him he was not interested in providing any assistance and once again claimed it was caused by a part he had not worked on. The vehicle was taken to another mechanic who immediately determined that the sensor Wayne Clark had fitted was faulty and that he had fitted the wrong spark plugs. They fitted working and correct parts, after which the car ran perfectly. In contravention of the consumer protection act Wayne Clark refused to refund us for the faulty and incorrect parts, and refused to hand the invoices over so that we could get a refund from where he purchased these parts.</p> <p> </p> <p>Not once did the ombudsman inspect the vehicle or the parts. Instead they simply believed the mechanic, misquoted the law and ruled against us.</p> <p> </p> <p>The problem here is that this isn't the only vehicle that has suffered sloppy repairs or damage at the hands of Wayne Clark.</p>
