OLX is not relieble

Hi

I'm Mr Sidelo from Queenstown I bought a TV on OLX. The person who is selling this Tv is Brian Mtshali from JHB .I gave this guy all my details which are : my residential address , first name and surname and my ID number.I first asked him what are you going to do with those he said its a proof that the TV is going to be collected by me ,all I have to do is to bring my Id and proof of residency when I'm going to collect it .I paid this guy R 1780.00 via mobile banking for a TV which was advertised at a price of R1500.00 , the extra R280 was for transportation for of the TV . This guy decide To increase the price up to R2500.00 so I said to him I'm no longer interested he must send back my cash and he denied.His cell number is ********** 014 / ********** 446. My Question is when you sell something to OLX do they verify that you are selling something genuine ? or do they take the full details of the seller to avoid such things not to happen .for me OLX is not relieble.

Hi Masigcobe

We provide the platform for the buyer & seller to meet and we provide tips on how to trade safely online via our Help section and OLX blog.

Anyone with a Facebook profile or mobile number can register on OLX to place an ad. We send an SMS to the mobile number to verify that it does actually exist.

Please provide us with the ad URL that you're referring to or the mobile number which appeared on the ad, so we can investigate this matter further, as a seller cannot change the price of an item after an amount was agreed upon & money was exchanged already etc.

Hi there Unfortunately I don't have the URL all I have is the number that I got on that ad ,the number is as follows.. ********** 46..and the alternative is ********** 014..I also have the picture of the TV that I tried to buy

Hi Masigcobe

Can you double-check the mobile number "***", as it is a digit short. It should be 10 digits and not 9.

We have no profile on OLX linked to *** either.
