Worthless Old Mutual Group Scheme Funeral Policies

My father passed away on 01 August 2017. As a retired government employee he had an Old Mutual Group 'Scheme' Comprehensive Family Funeral Plan. The plan was confirmed during September 2012 on formal Old Mutual correspondence to be valued R 10,000-00. My experience (as what everyone else will also experience within my situation responsible for handling these claims), is summarised as follows:

08 Aug 2017: Claim submitted to Old Mutual via published claims channels and procedures; 08 Aug 2017: Automated confirmation of receipt received from Old Mutual; 10 Aug 2017: Claim forwarded to Old Mutual Group Schemes for processing by Old Mutual service centre agent (confirmation received ref: CCC ********** 1); 21 Aug 2017: 11 Days of no action on behalf of Old Mutual. This claim was only actioned after an hour long telephonic conversation with Ms Bangani. Correspondence that then followed confirmed claim will be paid to beneficiary within 48 hours NOTE: If I had not followed up, Old Mutual would still have done nothing until now!); 24 Aug 2017: Yes, being the old way of Old Mutual as all us 'sheep' have become accustomed to, no payment received. Written follow-up sent to Old Mutual to request further details (unanswered); 25 Aug 2017: R 5,000-00 received in beneficiary bank account (nominated spouse). Payment received was R 5,000-00 less as per policy indicated R 10,000-00. Still awaiting justification why Old Mutual paid only half the policy value; 28 Aug 2017: Sent a follow-up request to Group 'Schemes' Noluyolo Bangani, Berenice Cassidy, and Thobile Tshabalala (Ref: GSENQ ********** ). Feedback received from Nokubonga Mapikana states: "The Policyholder stopped paying premium in 2007, therefore cover had to be reduced accordingly"; whereas, this person representing Old Mutual was sent a copy of the policy dated September 2012, that confirmed the value at R 10,000-00, and that the monthly premium payable as at 01 August 2012 was R 0-00.

This is AGAIN a classic example of how Old Mutual always slithers themselves out of their responsibilities. Fact is: If you have an Old Mutual policy, and you die, your family WILL STRUGGLE! Old Mutual knows that dead people cannot stand up for their rights, why they constantly fail to fulfill their policy obligations.

STAY AWAY from Old Mutual!!
