Unsatisfactory Service and lack of knowledge about their system

<p>Back in 2001/03/23 my mother Nolwandle Eunice Kamanga passed away having taken policies with old mutual which included family funeral plan and education plan... On the family funeral plan my father A M Kamanga was included and was a beneficiary if my mother predeceased him. Some claims were lodged and paid up but a sum of R7 500.00 was said to fall under the funeral plan which was to be claimed upon my fathers death. Few years back when I lodged a claim on my education plan I was told about the R7500. My father Abenego Magqibelo Kamanga Id *** 081 passed away on 2016/03/18 and my brother Vumile Kamange went to enquire about the policy at Old mutual Mthatha and was given a print out reflect the amount in question and was told that the money was due to be paid upon my fathers death. They gave him a list of things they will need in order to process the claim which were Letters of Authority, BI166 form, id of executor, death certificate and id of deceased. We didn't lodge the claim at that Tim as we were busy with funeral arrangements.. After the funeral I went to old mutual to lodge a claim and everything was done. To my suprise, I received a message from old mutual head office I believe stating that the money was paid upon the policyholder death. Funny enough the message was addressed to Nolwandle Kamanga who is my late mothe yet I'm the executor or claimant here. It now raises a questio, who is failling who here. Old mutual Mthatha claims there's money due to be paid, cape town confirmed but the message I received says something else. Not once nor twice I was told there's money but now that a claim has been lodged im told it was paid. To whom was the money paid. Is there proof to that effect. Why did old mutual officials say there's money if there wasn't. Why were all these documents required if money wasn't there. *** 080 EN Kamanga). I still have proof in my possession in the form of a print out old mutual gave us.</p> <p> </p> <p>Regards</p> <p> </p> <p>Nolufefe Kamanga ***)</p>

Hi Thabiet Once again i wanna thank you for your assistance regarding the above matter. An official from Old Mutual did contact me and told me which documents to lodge and i did just that. Yesterday i received a message statinng that the policy was paid upon the 9th of May 2016. The policy that was paid on that date was under my fathers name and it had a beneficiary. I tried my level best in explaining as to what exactly the claim is and who the policy holder was but that did not help in any way. I'm not sure whether between Mthatha branch and their claims dept, who does not know how the system operates. I explained that the policy holder was my late mother Nolwandle Eunice Kamanga *** 080 and she had a family funeral plan and my father was a beneficiary and also insured as the surviving spouse. The money we claiming from old mutual is R7 500.00 from pol no *** which was meant to assist in burrying the spouse. I really do not know how to explain further cause this is cristal clear and they do see the money when checking. The problem seems to be documents required. They do not know because before they used my mothers info and the claim was said to have been paid up. Now they request my fathers documents which included a marriage certificate, the claim is also said to have been paid up. I've tried to be patient but Old Mutual is failling me one way or the other. If they do not resolve this i'll be left with no choice but to resort to FSB. Your assistant to the above will be appreciated Kind Regards Nolufefe Kamanga ***
