Unprofessional Conduct at Old Mutual
I am struggling to close my account with Old Mutual. I was being debited R730 every month and I went to a branch in Pretoria CBD. I explained to them that I can no longer afford the instalments. So I completed all the forms. Now on the 27th they attempted to debit. So I was charged for a failed debit order. I have also not been able to get the payment of the balance of +R1400 they owe me. I get responses after a week. The first response was that I needed to complete the tax residency form. It's ok . I am a foreigner, it happens. Second Sunday the issue was my expired passport. No problem, I took the new passport to the branch. Third Sunday got an email that the premium paying account is not the same one I have requested to receive payment. Last year I went to Sunnyside branch in July. I was assisted by Consultant by the name of Sithembile. I asked her if they allowed for the debit order to be taken from my husbands account. She said sure, no problem. She needed the ABSA account number, my husbands ID number and his cell number. So now when closing the account, they are strict. They said payment can only be into an account with policy holders name. That's me. So I submitted my Capitec account number. Now I can't get my money because premium was being debited from my husbands account. Geez. Why wasn't I told this in the first place. With the cost of fuel, up and down trying to withdraw R1400 is no longer making sense at this stage. And how do i stop them from debiting my account? I no longer want that plan with Old Mutual. Please please please.
