Unfair

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with Old Mutual regarding the rejection of my disability claim. I took out a chronic and disability insurance policy with Old Mutual in 2014, with the understanding that it would provide comprehensive coverage for disabilities, including those resulting from psychiatric conditions.

Recently, I submitted a claim based on a diagnosed psychiatric disorder that has rendered me unable to work. To my surprise and frustration, Old Mutual rejected the claim, stating that my policy does not cover psychiatric disorders. This contradicts my understanding at the time of taking the policy and what was communicated to me.

I believe this rejection is both unfair and misleading, as psychiatric disabilities are recognized medical conditions and should be covered under a disability policy—especially one that was marketed as chronic and disability coverage.

I kindly request that Old Mutual reassess my claim based on the original terms of the policy and provide a clear, written explanation with supporting documentation if they maintain their position.
